現代社会を見渡すと、国内外を問わず、環境問題や心の豊かさに関する深刻な課題が山積して います。 日本国内では、気候変動による異常気象や自然災害の増加、少子高齢化による持 続可能な街づくりの必要性、都市部における緑地の減少とストレス社会の深刻化といった課題が 顕在化しています。

特に、急速な都市化により、子どもたちが自由に遊べる場所が減り、緑や自然に触れる機会が失 われつつあります。同時に、伝統的な日本の美意識や自然との調和を大切にする文化が薄れ、 無機質な都市空間が増えています。 一方、世界的にも、気候変動の影響による環境破壊や資 源の枯渇、プラスチックごみの増加、生態系の崩壊といった問題が深刻化しており、持続可能な 社会の実現が急務となっています。

また、デジタル化の進展により、人々のリアルなつながりや五感 を刺激する体験が減少し、精神的ストレスや孤独感が増しています。 こうした課題に対応するためには、環境に配慮した持続可能な商品やサービスの提供と、人々の 心に安らぎを与える空間の創造が不可欠です。

私たちは、単なる「モノづくり」ではなく、「価値づくり」を大切にし、環境負荷を抑えながら、日本の美意識を取り入れた感動の空間を 提供することを目指しています。「環境に優しく、心に響くデザイン」を追求し、持続可能な未来を築くとともに、都市と自然が調和する心豊かな環境を創造してまい ります。

Dear everyone,
At Souheki Co., Ltd., we are committed to “creating a sustainable future and an environment that nourishes the heart.” Through our work, we strive to contribute to a more sustainable society while designing spaces that truly resonate with people.

Why Do We Need a Sustainable Future?

Today, our world faces serious environmental challenges.

1. Climate Change and Extreme Weather Global warming has led to record-high temperatures, frequent heatwaves, floods, droughts, and wildfires worldwide. In 2023, the global average temperature reached an all-time high, with severe heatwaves affecting Europe, the U.S., and China.

2. Resource Depletion and Environmental Destruction Deforestation, soil degradation, and ocean pollution are accelerating at an alarming rate. According to the World Economic Forum, if current trends continue, the amount of plastic in the ocean will surpass the amount of fish by 2050.

3. Rapid Urbanization and Loss of Biodiversity By 2050, around 70% of the world’s population is expected to live in urban areas. As cities expand, green spaces and farmland are disappearing, disrupting ecosystems and leading to an increasing number of endangered species.

To address these issues, it is crucial to use sustainable materials, adopt energy-efficient technologies, and promote a circular economy.

Why Do We Need to Nourish the Heart?

While society advances, many people struggle with mental stress and a lack of emotional well-being.

1. Rising Levels of Stress and Mental Health Issues According to the World Health Organization (WHO), depression and anxiety disorders are increasing worldwide, especially in urban areas where stress levels are particularly high.

2. Digitalization and the Loss of Emotional Fulfillment With the rapid advancement of technology, smartphones and social media have become central to daily life. However, this has reduced real-life experiences and sensory stimulation, affecting creativity and emotional development, particularly in children.

3. The Concrete Jungle of Modern Cities Many urban environments are dominated by high-rise buildings and concrete, with little access to natural greenery. This lack of nature contributes to mental fatigue and stress. As a result, initiatives to integrate “healing gardens” and “green oases” into urban design are gaining attention worldwide.
